FG to spend N1trn on petrol subsidy in 2015

Abuja—The Federal Government is to spend the sum of N971 billion to subsidise the supply of petrol to Nigerians in 2015, an indication that the administration has no plan to do away with subsidising petrol.
In the same vein, the government plans to give out N260 million to the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, SURE-P, for intervention in various development agencies, while N250 billion would be spent as subsidy on kerosene.

Ebonyi Police arrest pastor over stolen goods, 5 others for theft, vandalism

ABAKALIKI—Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday paraded a self-acclaimed pastor of Assembly of Redeemed Christian Church, Ikwo, Samuel Obura, aged 35, over stolen goods.
The command also arrested two other suspects, Samuel Edet, 25, and Moses Alibo, 25, who specialised in stealing motorcycles from Ebonyi and ferrying them to Cross River State.

Fire outbreak in Unilag



A fire incident has occurred at Yem Yem shopping complex in UNILAG btw 12 am and 12:15am. There are currently no reports of any casualties but eye witnesses say that it started from a shop which sells Shawarma and operates a cybercafé.

NTA reporter arrested for allegedly demanding N50m bribe

The Niger State command of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday paraded Sampson Oghenedoro, a 28-year old staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for demanding N50 million from the state government to stop him from broadcasting a story on alleged fraudulent activities within the government.

LAGOS — In what is fast becoming the norm, gunmen, Friday, stormed the Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria, FRCN, Training School, Lagos State, raping and robbing many of the female trainee journalists.
An eye witness in the school said that was the third time the armed men would be attacking the school.

Heartless robbers snatch man’s car, throw away 3-month baby, rape wife

While travelling to their village for the weekend, a middle aged nursing mother, her three months old baby and husband had an unpleasant encounter with an eight-man gang a few days ago in Kogi state.
The eight man gang dispossessed them of their cash and valuables at gunpoint, took them in the family car to a near­by bush where they tied the husband and raped the wife who was at that time breast feeding her three-month-old baby.

EBOLA SCARE: Residents flee community over dead man


Following the sudden death of a middle-aged man who many believed to have died of the dreaded Ebola Virus disease on saturday in Udo community, Orhiomwon local government council of Edo State, some neighbours of the deceased have abandon their homes for fear of contacting the deadly virus.
