
ABAKALIKI—Ebonyi State Police Command yesterday paraded a
self-acclaimed pastor of Assembly of Redeemed Christian Church, Ikwo, Samuel
Obura, aged 35, over stolen goods.
The command also arrested two other suspects, Samuel Edet,
25, and Moses Alibo, 25, who specialised in stealing motorcycles from Ebonyi
and ferrying them to Cross River State.
Briefing newsmen in Abakaliki, the state Police Public
Relations Officer, Chris Anyanwu, stated that the pastor, who hailed from
Ohalaekwu Amagu community in Ikwo local government area of Ebonyi State, was a
habitual thief and receiver of stolen goods.
“When the police conducted a search of the suspect’s house
at Ikwo,13 brands of motorcycles were recovered from him.
In a related development, three vandals of electricity
installations in different locations in Ebonyi State are now in police net.
One of the suspect, Ifeanyichukwu Okoye, from Njikoka local
government area of Anambra State, was caught vandalising the transformer feeder
pillar, D-fuse high tension downdrop cable and one upriser cable at Nduogbu
Ndieze Iboko community in Izzi Local Government Area.
Two others, Sunday Mathias of Isiekeukwu-Orlu,Imo state and
Nwabueze Oriele of Akuna-kuna village,Ikwo local government area, were caught
by the vigilante groups while attempting to vandalise the transformer situated
at Onyikwa,Ndufu-Alike in Ikwo local government area.
Public Relations Officer of Enugu Electricity Distribution
Company, Mr. Lazarus Onyea-rugbulem, said the situation was unfortunate and
wondered why people took pleasure in causing discomfort for others.
