Speculation has continued to grow over Di Maria's future
this summer and it is understood that the Red Devils are now on the verge of
completing a deal to sign the Argentina international from Real Madrid before
the transfer window slams shut next Monday.
Reports have suggested that Louis
van Gaal will have to break the British record transfer fee to sign the
26-year-old as the Premier League side have seen a bid of £63.9million
accepted. Ancelotti confirmed that Di Maria missed training with the European champions
over the weekend but he did say goodbyes to the coaching staff and his team
mates as he prepares to head to Old Trafford. The former Benfica man will now
travel to Manchester as he looks to agree personal terms before undergoing a
medical. Ancelotti said: "Di Maria has not trained with us today and he
came in to say goodbye to the players and people at the club. "We are
thankful for what he has done at this club. There is nothing official yet but
it is being sorted out. I am very happy with the work that he has done for
Madrid but we the chance to replace him well. "The decision is his and the
club has done what it could to keep him here but he thought differently and so
good luck to him."
