Barcelona are combing the market in search of a quality
central defender and amongst the names bandied around is that of Bayern
Munich’s Jerome Boateng.
But on this issue, former Barcelona manager and now manager
of Bayern has said the defender is not going anywhere.
“I do not know what the media say,” Guardiola told reporters
in the USA.
“I only know that Jerome Boateng will be a Bayern player
next season, 100 per cent,” he added.
Barcelona have made enquiries for Thomas Vermaelen and
reports say a deal is about to be confirmed. Their first choice was PSG’s
Marquinhos, but the French have rebuffed any offer for the Brazilian defender.
Boateng, 25-years-old just won the World Cup with Germany
and is valued at €39 million.
