The summer transfer window
is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads
ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today,Manchester United have edged closer to the
signing of Juventus ace Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United are edging ever-closer to the signing of
Arturo Vidal after agreeing terms over a contract worth €230,000-a-week with
the €53m-rated Juventus midfielder, according to reports in Italy.
Vidal has been strongly linked with a move to United in
recent weeks and despite Juve’s public declaration that the 27-year-old is
happy at the club and isn’t for sale, widespread reports suggest a deal is very-much in the
pipeline with the midfielder understood to be pushing for the move.
Speculation from Chile last month even suggested that
Vidal had undergone an initial medical checks, with United understood to have
been keen to assess his troublesome knee injury before pushing ahead with any
potential deal.
Now it looks like the deal has taken another huge step
closer with Italian newspaper La Stampaclaiming that following talks
with Vidal’ agent Fernando Felicevich earlier this week, United have now agreed
terms over a five-year contract worth €230,000-a-week – which works out at
around £182,000.
The paper suggests that the ball is now in Vidal’s court and
United are waiting on the Chilean international to tell Juventus he wants to
leave before formal talks can take place between the two clubs over a potential
fee.
It’s understood that Juve would value Vidal at around €53m
(£42m), but United would hope to try and drive the price down once the player
makes clear his desire to move to Old Trafford.
There is so much speculation surrounding this deal that it’s
difficult to know what to believe, but there certainly seems to be concrete
interest from United and a deal appears to be edging closer by the day.

It would be a major coup for the Red Devils if they are able
to pull it off as Vidal is one of the best all-round midfielders in the world
and would bring a huge amount of quality to Louis van Gaal’s new-look side.
We’re just going to have to see how things develop over the
coming days but with the new season just around the corner, you’d expect
Vidal’s future to be resolved one way or the other within the next week or so.
