Tony Stark is finally ready to take on his gamma-radiated
pal in Joss Whedon's 'Avengers' sequel.
Loki had an army, but the Avengers had a Hulk. And now, the
Avengers also have a veritable one-man army to stop the Hulk, if need
be.
Fans caught a first look at "The
Avengers: Age of Ultron" during "Marvel Studios: Assembling
a Universe," the TV special that aired on ABC last night. Along with the
special came first looks at concept art for Joss Whedon's "Avengers"
sequel, including our first real glimpse at Whedon's Quicksilver
and Scarlet Witch vision. (Alas, no Vision,
but we'll take what we can get.)

As exciting as those new characters are to see, not enough
can be said about an old character's newest trick: Iron Man and his Hulkbuster armor. After several movies worth of
anticipation, Whedon and Marvel are breaking out the big gun, in the form of
Tony Stark's latest Iron Man suit:
The Hulkbuster suit has been a staple of Iron Man's armory
for years and years in the comics. In "Iron Man 3," we saw an armor
that looked very much Hulkbuster inspired: Mark XXXVIII, the silver and blue
"Igor" armor that rampaged against Aldrich Killian and his
Extremis-powered enforcers.
But that was just an amuse-bouche, a taste of the Hulk-sized
Iron action to come. Based on the "Age of Ultron" concept art, it's
clear that Iron Man's Hulkbuster will come into play, likely to rein the Jade
Giant in once his giant green rage monster schtick gets too far out of control.
Hopefully, we'll also get to see Hulk and Hulkbuster Iron
Man fight together side-by-side, Science Bros style. But frankly, we'll take
the suit however we can get it.
"The Avengers: Age of Ultron" hits theaters on May
1, 2015.
